| Obscurely Titled History: Jonathan Kagi (vocalist, programmer, award-winning poet and songwriter) started slamming on drums and writing songs in his teens... |
|
|
He cut his teeth as a singer fronting over the top trash-glam and outrageous metal bands, which were all about, fun and excess.
Over time, Jon developed a rich vocal and writing style- partly influenced by the madness of "The Seattle Scene", frequent trips to Hollywood, friends and contemporaries Lane Staley (Alice in Chains), Scott Star (Nasty Habitz), Jon Powers (Amphetamine Lovebash) and Andrew Wood (Mother Love Bone) and his chaotic life experiences traveling around USA. |

This- coupled with a healthy dose of Hollywood night life and glorious extended chemical endeavors all were the seeds that brought bizarre fruition to Jon’s natural talents as a writer of great vision.
Jonathan got into synth-driven music as computers became more capable and recorded a few mind-melting gothic synth tracks in the mid-90s under the name Day to Die. With song titles like My Funeral Affair and The Prison one could speculate that there were personal chaoses which eventually disbanded the project while Jon took a several years sabbatical.
He emerged with a catalog of lyrics and songs that chronicle events, feelings and philosophies engendered throughout his life. The first project he put into effect was called drenched. Under the name drenched, he released an EP titled Salon des Refuses, which translates from French to Exhibit of the Rejected (from the history of the Impressionists). It featured 5 songs from his catalog of writings that were created mostly with synths and showcase his powerful vocal approach.
Jonathan’s new strategy to releasing music is to continue recording and releasing EPs that each has a central theme and span a variety of genres. This makes a lot of sense as the material he has written a quite broad. Thus, Obscurely Titled is the latest effort and promises new music that will be revolutionary. Along with some close musician friends, Jon is recruiting new musicians to bring various musical visions to light and tracks have already been laid in several new efforts. Keep an eye out for some beautiful and intense music as Jon spits some new shit on the mic in the coming years.
Thanks to all!!!! Love to All!!! :) XXOOXX
